Popped my Dragstrip cherry! Call me a nympho!

So, haven't posted in quite a long time, but finally took a trip to Lapeer Dragway today, and man what a good time it was! Given my setup and lack of drag experience, I was hoping to be in the high 12's by the end of the day, once I got the hang of things.
Very first run I took it at about 85% of what I thought I could, and posted a 12.990 @ 112, with a 2.14 60'. I was only the 4th car down the track as it wasn't busy at all, so I had my first 4 or 5 passes solo. Quite the difference when there's someone else in the other lane. lol
All in all I got a total of 13 runs in, and posted a best of 12.555 ET @114 with a 2.011 60', which I know I could have run better if I got better traction in the 60. DA corrected, it would have been a 12.432. I'm by no means a pro, but I would be back out tomorrow if I could.

I do know now, that before I get back out there I at least need some LCA's and probably a UCA while I'm at it. Wheelhop was pretty bad out of the hole if not feathering the go pedal, and got worse as the track was used more.

Even though it's only a 12.5 second car (or driver, rather) man what a rush!

Wow. That's really good for your first time out! You definitely have the driving ability to run 11s with just control arms and sticky tires. It would only take around a 1.80 or better 60-foot time to accomplish that.

That's pretty encouraging. Thanks. I was setting my sights on the 12.2's with a better launch and LCA's. Does that sound realistic? Or am I putting more faith than I should into increased traction?

Do your mods insteps to see what improvements each mod does. I would think you can muster a 1.8 or better 60ft with your current setup just need practice.

Do Control arms and see where that lands you.

Then do tires. Although I personally believe tires are more necessary than control arms.

I mustered a 1.9 60ft in my car and it is leagues below your car. Practice, practice, practice....

I can hardly wait to get out and try again. But oh how life gets in the way sometimes. I'll get out there again eventually. Until then, I'll be plotting my build mythodically. Decisions decisions...
