Back seat done! Headliner, done! Interior chrome, done!

I cleaned out the tracks and repainted the metal on the passenger seat last night. Unfortunately we had a thunderstorm after a very hot day and the humidity got so high the paint got contaminated with moisture. I've been there before with this sort of thing, and I'll sit the pieces in the sun all day to see if I can drive the moisture out.

You know it's getting close to the end when little chrome bits start appearing.

The interior is done except for the kick panels and the steering wheel hub. That is such a pain to take off I'll wait until after my first alignment to install it.

On the right is a screen for GPS and a back-up camera. When my wife saw that she said that "this is better than all original". Yeah, well, that's kinda the idea...

A hole in the console that used to be the seat belt warning light will house my son's engine monitoring display. That's a long term project.

Four buttons above that are for ambient lights (not done), AC on-off, Hazard lights (not yet done) and cooling fan override.

A few little things in the trunk and I'm done.

I had the radio playing in it all day while I was working on it. Chuck Berry, Commander Cody, Mamas and the Papas, New Riders of the Purple Sage.

Time for a shower beer.

That interior looks great, goes right along with those nostalgic tunes!

As much as any project car is done, she is. I took her on her maiden voyage up to the BRP then onto my place in the High Country for some weekend drives this fall.

First time I've ever seen this thread Yadkin. Very nice.
Leaves will be turning soon. I'm envious.

The car looks great but I've received complaints from my better half, and I've got a plan to address them.

No, I won't be getting a divorce.

1. Her complaint: Smells up the house.
My related complaint: poor fuel economy/ gas fumes while driving that I can't locate at shut down/ poor driveability as compared to my late model cars/ can't easily find E0 fuel as my carburetor requires.

Solution: I've already installed vapor recovery for the gas tank and a legitimate attempt for the carburetor fuel bowls, but I can still smell gas, both when driving and when parked. That along with poor fuel economy leads me to believe that the ancient carburetor that I so carefully restored and tuned is getting destroyed by E10 gas. I've researched the issue at length and decided to bite the bullet and install a FAST EZ EFI system. Last night I ordered all the parts, including a new gas tank to install an in-tank pump.

2. Her complaint: too loud/ drones on the highway.

Solution: As part of the EFI conversion I need to install a bung for the O2 sensor, and I'll have that done while I'm getting the small mufflers changed out for a quieter pair.

3. Her complaint: rides rough.
My related complain: oil pan is only 4" off the ground.

Description of the problem: I purchased front springs that were too stiff, to the point that the car was "topped out" when installed. So I cut a coil off and re-installed. Still too stiff. So I cut a second coil off, now th ecar sits too low in the front. It looks good to the hot rod crowd, has a nice rake to it, but it rides terrible.

Solution: new springs, softer, only cut one coil off.

Here's my new EFI conversion, mounted in place of the carb. The fuel pump is mounted in the tank, and I cut a hole in the floor of the trunk to make room for the connections.

I replaced the corrugated sheath that the EFI kit came with to match the braided sheath I used throughout the car. The Russell Pro Classic hose matches it nicely.

Although I've never done it before, I put the kit emblem on the dash. I figure that this is such a substantial improvement, and the emblems match the OE fairly well, so I'll give it a try.
