Concerning the GT500 OEM wheels, are they polished or chrome? I want to buy them for my 07 GT but I don't want chrome wheels...

They are machined finish aluminum (not polished or chromed).

I beleive you have to stay with at least 18" wheels and just make sure the larger brakes will fit. You can look at whats out there and then call them and make sure they will fit your brakes..

I've seen up to 22 inch wheels fit, although they look a little big in the front. 20 inchers look the best in the front if you want to go big, and I've seen up to 11 inch wide wheels in the rear.
You'll need an adjustable panhard bar if you lower the rear and put wide wheels.
People say the stock GT500 are ugly, but I think they look WAY better than the stock GT500KR wheels.

I just recently traded my '06 GT for an '09 GT500. I like many others think that the wheels don't do the rest of the car justice. I have done searches on here and this is the closest thread that I have found dealing with my question. Almost all searches yield questions about the GT500 wheels on the stock GT's. My question is what are the maximum width tires that can fit on the GT500 either with stock rims or aftermarket rims. I realize to go bigger than the 285's on the rear, you will need a 10'' or bigger wheel on the rear, but how wide can you go and not run into issues? I don't plan on lowering the car. I just want a wider tire in the back. I think the SN95's look so cool from behind when they have the 10.5'' wheels and 315's on the rear. Will those fit on our GT500's?

WOW; from 2008, no less!

On stock wheels, I think 305/35 and 305/40 are what most are using.
I know some have removed something from inside the rear wheel well to clear wider sizes. I've seen threads on either Team Shelby or SVTPerformance forums about going wide.
They sure do need some tire back there... I played with a C6 (not a Z06) the other day, and while he hooked, I was still spinning in third with the stock KR tires (which are supposed to be stickier than regular F1s). He took me by more than one car in just a block.. Embarrassing.
