2009 Shelby GT 500 Mustang oil change qustion

just had my oil changed for the first time in my 2009 Shelby GT 500. When the filter is changed, it drips on the frame below. Does it eventually run out at the end of the frame at the driver door. Just want to know if this is normal. Thanks

Moved to right here...

Before I first changed my GT-500 oil, I'd read about how messy it can be...

Since I'd changed oil on cars that I thought were really bad before, once I had a look and try at the GT-500, I had to laugh...too easy; I can actually see and touch the filter on this one...! About the only easier one I'd done, is on the Mustang GT (my Bullitt).
For the GT-500, I'd seen it recommended that you tear off a big enough sheet of aluminum foil to drape over the cross member below your filter. That way when you drip, the oil will go over the foil, and into your drain pan. Also, I found it pretty helpful to take a large paper plate, and punch a hole on the inside of it near one side, and put that hole over your drain pan. Using that plate held under the filter when first removing it, you can direct the dripped oil into your drain pan...

Hope that helps. BTW- The GT-500 is really easy compared to some exotics...!

Others have shaped a piece of cardboard to funnel the oil over the cross member into the pan.
