2007 GT500 Clutch Issues

1st gear chatter shimmy upon clutch engagement at 1000 rpms seems poor engineering for such a high performance car.

What has anyone done to clear this issue other than a TSB fix that did nothing better. I wonder if dumping the factory clutch for another and what other would be better? Or, if removing the rear gears help out and keeping the factory clutch?

Surely someone out there has done the test or math on these issues and really want to know what is best recommended. Thanks! :laughlitt

This is a common/standard complaint among 2007 through 2009 owners. The only cure is to install a 2010/11 GT500 clutch or purchase an aftermarket clutch of your choosing. This was one reason why I traded my 2007 for a 2011. The 2010's & 11's have different clutches installed by Ford and it eliminates the first gear shudder. I had the TSB done in 2007 (TSB was for a warping flywheel issue, not 1st. gear clutch chatter which Ford says was normal for that clutch) and although the clutch pedal was easier to push in, the chatter remained. Ford, as I understand it, is now replacing 07-09 TSB claims with 2010/11 clutches to address the first gear chatter, as well. Those who had it done, indicate the first gear chatter is gone and they were satisfied. Early TSB replacements (mine) were with the same system as was in the car, other than up-dating the the flywheel and input shaft in the transmission. So..... thats basically the history, and your choices are the two previously mentioned. Good luck!!
