no i cant imagine what that rear gunner would feel in a real fight! i was able to get into that b-17,from front gunner,navigator seat,top gunner,and side guns [cockpit not allowed]. being in that plane made me fear and pay GREAT respect to the guys with the BIGGEST nads that flew and fought in all those missions in that HUGE tin can!!! the rear gunner can only get in from a small rear door from i can see. the rear wheel folds up right behind him! no way i can see for him to get by. as for the bombbay area.a very small alleyway between the bombs to walk threw.
two front seats were $850 each and middle seats were $450 each. i told my wife if enough people would go,i was first in line! they would only fly with full seats to make it worth it.
no body else was willing time i was there.
