For those who think the new mustang looks like a Fusion, maybe so but...

I do agree that the new mustang front end looks a lot like a fusion... however I'm not sure if that's all bad or really that different from the past.

Doesn't a 1990 Foxbody look like a 1990 Escort? For that matter, the Escort, Tempo, Thunderbird, and Mustang all had similar styling for the front lights.

I bet the 2015 Mustang will seem a whole lot less like a Fusion when it's lowered and has loud exhaust on it!

I remember before I really liked Mustangs, starting up a 1989 5.0 with Dynomax exhaust on it, made me instantly like the car about 10 times more than I did before I started it.

konrad, I understand your perspective of comparing model years and so forth, and that is all good and fine, MY bottom line is based more on PRESENT overall looks than anything else... If I am slapping down hard earned money ( $40,000+ ) on ANY car, the first and formost emotional connection to ME is over all looks...if that connection is not there, I really don't care how fast or slow the model is...that aspect of the buy comes when I start to choose the options, V8 versus a V6 versus an eco boost, auto trans versus a 6 speed manual and so forth.
In defence of the 2015, I love the rear end, side profile looks great, my sticking point is the cross breeding FORD infused in the front end with a Fusion/Taurus distinct look, The front grill assembly looks so cheap and out of place, I seriously felt embarrassed taking pics of it!
It just did NOT do it for me one bit, and that's after I specifically went to the auto show in Toronto to view it, hell, I did not go there to see what GM or Toyota or for that matter VW had to offer.... that whole exercise was to look/check out/sit in/compare and ultimately convince myself this is the NEW ride I wanted to buy!
There is a definite removal in the front end from staple Mustang cues...that does not appeal to me in the least, that does not mean I do not appreciate it's overall looks, but in the great scheme of things, it does not appeal ENOUGH to me to buy and own.
For this car guy, an emotional bond with a "look" has to be established first before I proceed to the next level, the buying process.
I'm sure it will sell reasonably well, and lots of customers will love it...but to me, there are better options out there.

The Fusion is a better looking car than the s197 Mustang.

It is not a performance car. From all indications the 2015 Mustang will be a far better car than the s197 ever was.

Well, that's your perspective, not everyone's....and you're entitled to it.

You know why I bought my 11 GT? It has 420 freaking HP stock. You know why I'm gonna get a 2016 GT? Cause it will have 500 HP stock and forged internals with IRS. Emotions are for chicks.

I could have swore my '11 GT came with 412 hp, maybe it's a Canadian thing! Last I heard, the 2015 is going to have around 440 hp and SOME forged internals namely rods, but at this stage it's speculation.
WOW, did not realise FORD was already working on the 2016's either!!!!
Somehow I don't think the '15 GT would come with stock 500 HP, but I could be wrong, guess we'll just have to see...
I though (wrongly ) emotions are a human trait, did not realise they were female specific either, see what happens when you live in an air conditioned igloo?

Although I'm kind of defending the design in this post I guess, I'm really not sold on it either. I'm sticking with my 07. I have more fun upgrading and MAKING it something that buying it that way and I really do like the look of the s197 better as well.

^ That right there is exactly why I didn't go with the 2015 either.

I'll be picking up my '14 GT Premium with the works and trading in my '09 V6. Also, I'm kinda weird on the idea of which is the 50th anniversary - since the first Pony car came out in 64 1/2 which year truly is the anniversary? I'm sticking with 2014 despite what anyone else says, including Ford.

I'm going to miss the little V6 and I REALLY like it's body style overall, it's retro and sleek, but even with the cold air kit, I don't like the automatic tranz and the way it bangs when I hit the gas. I've always driven a manual tranz and although I've had almost 3 years to get used to the auto, I STILL keep looking for the clutch pedal with my left foot!

Got the deal of a lifetime because of A-plan pricing too. This is something I never thought possible. Saturday can't come quick enough. Ford is putting the stripes on it now.

2015 Mustang Appearance

After reading many reviews on the 2015 Mustang, I am impressed that they finally went with the rear independent suspension. Some of the other improvements are also nice. However, when I look at it, I see a Ford Fusion. No matter how hard I try, I keep seeing the Fusion. I'm going to pass on the 2015, and look for a low mileage 2009. Just another opinion. Best wishes to those of you who like the new design.

I'm still pissed about the math Ford did to consider the '15's the 50 year anniversary.

My '09 was tagged with a special emblem as the 45th year anniversary edition. 45+5=50 = 2014 no matter how much you try to implement "government math" on it.

I went to take a look at the car the front is the only thing I didn't like about it. I loved the interior side view the rear the front does look like a fusion. I get what the OP is saying I mean the original mustang was based on a falcon so I understand them using similar lines but with them messing with the math and making the 15 the 50th year they really should of done a better job on that front. I wonder how much of it was influenced by European safety standards.

You do know that the "64 1/2" Mustangs had a 1965 VIN number on them, and were sold by Ford as '65 Mustangs, right?

1965 + 50years = 2015, so Ford didn't mess up the math. Of course, technically the 64 1/2 Mustangs were the ones built prior to August 1964 so Ford is a little late on the building, but on time for the model year.

Also, going back and forth between 2014 Mustang front photos and 2015 Mustang front photos and the grill isn't even a whole lot different, but the overall look is. To each is one, but far from ruined.

Made the same mistake

I've decided to go for the 2015 Dodge Challenger 392 SRT. Great looks and really cool technology with a reasonable price.
