Post Ford Presents All-New Police Interceptor

Its got a cop motor, its got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what? Well, no. Its Ford?s Police Interceptor concept, designed to replace the venerable Crown Victoria police cruiser and unveiled for police agencies Friday.

The Vic has been top of the cop heap for 15 years, but it has been losing some ground to new offerings from GM and Chrysler. With its new interceptor, Ford hopes to make sure North America’s enforcement officers stay known as the boys — and girls — in the Blue Oval.

Is it built on the Taurus platform? Looks like Ford is serious about keeping the police market. Light years ahead of what GM and Chrysler are offering. Through my years of experience in repair and maintainance of police fleets for a large city, the Chrysler offerings suffered from a terrible parts program which left cars sitting for days. The GM offerings suffered from not having a decent replacement for their Chevy Caprice. It's apparently not easy to convert a "grocery getter" Impala into a police vehicle. Hats off to Ford. The powers that be seem to have their heads squarely on their sholders.

I know a cop who would be even sexier than he is (if that's even possible) in that sexy cruiser. I love it. It looks awesome!

I like it. Be better if it was a 1973 Falcon XB in "Mad Max" Interceptor trim. I've seen Fusions as unmarked rides but not the Taurus. Gotta say of the new cars, the Charger brings back the era of the classic police Polaras, Furys, and Monacos. Definitely intimidating in black. My neighbor had a 1971 Fury I with a 440 Commando that was a retired Virginia State police car. It was the fastest big car I ever road in. It made an impression on me at 13yo to see the speedo kiss the 160mph mark as 20+ feet of Plymouth rocketed down the road. Don't ask me how I've lived this longl

Nice to see Ford is making cars for specific markets rather then making a car and a market picks up on it.

FRPP CAI. SLP Loudmouths.
Roush Front Bumper w/ chin spoiler, Roush Hood scoop, Scott Drake Hood pins, Roush 1/4 window louvers, Billet fuel door.

I wonder if they will do a taxi and other fleet offerings for it.

1968 Mustang coupe, Acapulco Blue, 289 2v, C-4, Power Steering.
Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.

Ford used to have ugly cars, now they have character and they don't strike me as cookie cutter cars. I'm really impressed with the Taurus.

I like it. I like it.

This is my first Roush and my 3rd convertible.

It is a blast to drive. But needs a S/C.

Nice! I wonder if there are a lot of departments using the S197 mustang as a dedicated pursuit vehicle right now?
