Option increased by 30%

I have been pricing a 2020 GT Premium for a few weeks now. Went to a dealer today, got a quote and it said GT package $5195. A couple days ago it was $3995. Thatís an increase of over 30%! Seems really high. I could understand maybe a 5-10% mid year increase but this is highway robbery. Maybe because they increased the rebate from $250 to $1000? Also are there any options you wished you had or sorry you got?

Hi and welcome to the forums!

The GT Performance Package for the 2020 model year retails for $5195 on the Ford site. Did you ask the dealership about the price difference?

As far as raising prices, I only see dealer markups on models that garner competitive offers from buyers such as limited releases. I've never come across a dealer that offsets rebates or incentives by raising the base price of price for options.

As far as options you want . . . I'm the wrong guy to ask that. I purchase vehicles about every 3 years and often find the features sold in base models are very nice and an upgrade from previous years. I avoid GPS, Lane Departure features and I'm not into mega-watt car stereo systems or leather seating.

Thanks, seems like a great resource for Mustangs. The GT package has been $3995 since the 2020ís have been out and maybe even the 2019ís. To see it increase to $5195, over a 30% increase in the middle of the model year with nothing changed in the package seems strange. I could see if they added on to the package. Ford is the one offering the $1000 rebate and price increase not the dealer. I asked the dealer about this and they had no answer.
