Using Quick Detailer on dried bird droppings, light dirt, etc

I'm just starting out with Meguiar's products and I'm wondering what the procedure is for using Quick Detailer on dried bird droppings, light dirt (from having driven in rain), etc?

The instructions basically say to spray and wipe but at what point should I be concerned about scratching the paint? If bird droppings have dried or quite a bit of dust has dried on the car after driving in the rain, can I simply wipe that off after wetting with the quick detailer?

Thanks!

Honestly, I do not use quick detailer if the car is what I would call a light dirty - anything other than basic dust and 1 or two bird poops - you should give the car a quick wash.

Before I detail the car I either wash it quick or if it was washed the day before, use the california duster to get the light dust off and then get the bird poop off by spraying heavily with detailer - let it sit and soften, wipe softly then turn cloth over and wipe clean again - spray again and buff....

Anything more than a cali duster can't get off - it should be washed and again, this is only my opinion.

Black, 07 GT/CS, vert, never rained on, never washed with a hose, picked up from dealer, dirty with plastic attached. Nothing but dusters and Meguiars quick detailers and wax. I use it for bugs, birds and anything a duster won't take off. Just watch your spot, if it starts marking the paint, stop, if not, clean it up !!

Wow, quick detailer for the bugs too? I picked up a can of Turtle Wax Spray Bug Tar Remover since there wasn't a Meguiar's product available at the time. I figured this might be better for bugs since it's specially made for them. Opinions?

I haven't used it yet so perhaps I will return it.

So it is safe to spray the detailer on, let it sit for a few minutes to loosen bugs, then wipe off?

If your car only has light dirt and you don't want to give it a full blown wash, there are Waterless Wash products that you can use.
These are a little different from standard instant detailing sprays because they contain more lubricants and have greater cleaning properties.

Most of them leave behind a great shine as well !

Obsessive Details Waterless Wash is one very good product. Adams makes a Waterless Wash as well and their Adams Detail Spray can be used for that as well. Griots Garage also has a Waterless Wash.

All the above products can be purchased online.

Sometimes I will use the Waterless Wash and then give the car a once over with a detailing spray to enhance the shine.

Warning: Be careful of using detailer or any other cleaner on dried bird poop and think its just going to wipe off you never know whats in the dried stuff. It could have abrasives in it and scratch your paint . Soak it a while real good and be careful as you clean if off, this is an FYI from personal experience.
