Question Number code on new spark plug cables is different than wires installed

Hello all,

I recently purchase new spark plug cables for my 97, Motorcraft WR4099. Everywhere I looked showed the same model number for the 97 3.8. The cables that showed up were in a WR4099 box and I'm sure the are actual WR4099 cables, but the number code on the new cables do not match the number cose on the old cables (new E5595 vs old 1998). The new cables were a little shorter also, I compared lengths of the new and old driver side cables and none were exactly the same. There isn't much slack on the old cables, so even though these may fit, I didn't get a warm and fuzzy feeling about them. Does anyone know how to cross check the number code printed on the cables?

Since your new wires weren't built in 1997-98, I doubt you'd have identical part numbers. If you're concerned enough, you could probably spend a few days researching the manufacturing date of your new wires. You might even be able to find a NOS set of wires online for a few hundred dollars (to keep your car "number correct") but I don't see the point. The wires you have are OEM replacement not factory original.
