What are the signs of a dirty egr valve ?

I think i have a dirty egr valve.My car shakes sometimes.

Could be, but does it do it more when it is cold or warm?

if your car shakes then check your wiring and spark plugs you might just be running on 5 cylinders. my car had the same problem shook really bad like it was cammed. and all it took to fix it was some spark plug cables and spark plugs.

I just changed the plugs and wires .. I think it is the egr valve ...i just want to get her running smooth so i can complete my windstar and exhaust job

possibly HARMONIC BALANCER! take it to a shop to see otherwise your gonna screw your engine

my 94 shook around 30 mph while accelerating turns out it was my harmonic balancer that was wron the shopm said that it was close to coming off and trashing my engine if you feel a shake take it in.

Any check engine lights?

As to your original question, usually when an EGR valve is dirty, the EGR flow is restricted. On later MY Mustangs, this will cause a DTC.

The signs of excessive EGR flow are lack of power especially at part throttle. Use an ODB2 scanner to monitor DPFE flow. Or if high mileage, replace the EGR valve.
