so annoying and no help

ok this can get confusing. if my car sits for a few hours then my dome light will not work, not when door is opened or if you turn the switch on, but if you start the car or turn the headlights on then it will work/work will the door opening and closing. now this is no problem i guess but i know it is not supposed to be that way and it is very annoying not knowing what is wrong. anyone got any idea cause im out of them

Almost sounds like it's wired on a accessories battery.I drove semis for years and they ususally have 5 batteries. One of those 5 is for backup power and accessories. When the truck is shut off and your watchin your tv or something,it's powered by the backup battery which saves the other 4 batteries for starting the vehicle.I reckon you'd have to have an electrician figure it out.

Might be handy to know the model year.

Have you checked ALL of the fuses? For the later MY cars, the GEM is powered from multiple sources. Possible for one of the "always on" fuses to have blown. When the car starts, the GEM is powered from an "run/start" fuse.

2003 GT Convertible (sold & missed)
2000 GT coupe (Craigslist project. Fixed. Now my DD). Windsor to Romeo swap.
