there are two possible causes of this i can think of, one you may have the dimmer switch/knob turned all the way to the left causing the lights to stay on or 2 if u replaced this with one of the newer LED type bulbs they use way less power than those of the stock bulbs and will have a permanent glow no matter what, in which case you will need a capacitor to make them turn off

I have a dome light problem also. On my 99 the dome light will not come on when the door is opened or with the headlight switch. Both bulbs work with the switches on the light assembly. Can someone tell me where the switches on the doors are located. I looked in the door jam area and don't see any.

the switches that turn on the dome lamp when the doors are open.. they've got nothing to do with your problem.. i think those map lights are pretty much useless.. i might consider just not worrying about it.. but its up to you.. it'd be a wiring or fuse problem

look in the manual for the fuse which would labeled for the map light/dome light, probably a 5. Also what kind of bulbs did you just just wondering since i'm looking into replacing mine and want to go with the LED type. you may need to turn the dimmer all the way to left then toggle the lights on/off and play with it then turn off the lights from the dimmer and see if they work again(it worked in my moms 09 focus) also make sure the bulbs are in securely and if theres a +/- side that they match up
