2002 idling promblems

i got 2002 that was missing ford dealer said it needed a new pcm so i found one at salvage yard ford dealer reflashed it. now the miss is gone but it idles at about 2500-3000rpm and the exaust gets cherry red real quick. done a diag and it reads p1509 idle air malfunction so i changed it and the promblem still there. have no clue what to do now

weird.. you've definitely got a lean condition.. sounds like something(computer/faulty wiring) is holding the IAC open.. you'll probably want to test the voltages in the IAC wiring.. make sure all the connectors are clean and secure, both from the wire to the IAC, and the computer's wires

Is it possible your old one went bad and then you put the new one on backwards? Does the idle get a few hundred RPM higher once the engine warms up? This exact thing happened to my friend on his tbird. He swore up and down he put the new one on correctly but apparently not. Also there is the chance your new IAC could be defective.

Try disconnecting the IAC when the car is idling. See if it tries to stall out......
