Exhaust question

When I bought my car it came with a dual exhaust . Now how can I find out what kind of exhaust i have true dual exhaust, if I have an x pipe if i have long tubes. To me it looks like a x pipe my friend told me it looks like a stock exhaust. It sounds pretty nice it has a rumble sound. Please help

Thanks in advance

Well if you have a cross over pipe then its not true dual. An x pipe looks like an x and an h pipe looks like an h. If your headers are stock then they're shorties. If they are long tubes then the pipes will run all the way to the bottom of the car. There is a huge visible difference between long and short tubes.

just rearward of the front wheel you look under the car and see two big long things, one on each side of the car. those are 2 of the catalytic converters. there are 2 more "pre-cats" further up on the pipe

If you have a Y pipe its not true dual...

Anything past a Y pipe on a v6 is true dual... Its just the fact of you having a mid pipe or having DIVORCED true duals.

So for example....

If you have 2 2.25" pipes coming off both headers, they go into an X, H, or are separated you have true duals.
If you have 2 2.25" pipes coming off both headers, they go into a Y a single pipes runs the length of the car and then it splits over the axle to two tips its not true dual.

My car has "fake" duals.

Don't take the cats off if you have regular emissions testing, you may not pass.
