Occasional high idle 2001 Mustang V6

I have a 01 V6 3.8 coupe and on occasion it has a high idle, between 2k and 3k for several seconds then will drop back down to normal. I have a K&N CAI and I THINK it might just be a dirty IAC valve. But I didn't see anything on the engine that looks like the pictures I've seen. I'm wondering where it is located and is it just a simple disconnect the electrical connection and 2 bolts and then shoot up with carb. cleaner?
