Power Steering pump?

Good afternoon,
I have a 2002 Mustang V6 I've noticed that the powersteering pump gives off a whineing noise very annoying. Its a strain when you turn the wheel. I was wondering if anyone eles has this problem and how they fixed it

Also is there a differnt brand that i could use for the Power steering pump?

Its probably just low on fluid. The last time mine made any noise (and was low) I just added a little bit of transmission sealer and its sounded fine ever since. I've always used transmission fluid in the place of power steering fluid, (but no the other way around) and have never had a problem. Another alternative could be to go to an oil change shop and have them suck out the old fluid and put new in. How many miles are you up to?

Seems odd that the pump could go bad in so few miles. I would change the fluid, and look into some kind of additive. It's not under warranty is it?

take it to the dealership if it is under warranty.....why not, your not paying for it and if there is a serious problem they will fix it

I was having the same problem and I took it to the dealership, it was underwarrenty so they repalced the pump, but it still made the same nosie. So I took it back and they said that there nothing they could do. So I just delt with it and eventually it went away. So I hope you find out whats wrong. Good Luck.

Does it do it all the time or only when you have the wheel completely turned in one direction or the other.
