86 3.8 V6 conversion

Howdy. I just picked up an '86 LX 3.8 V6. I can't seem to find much aftermarket performance and after reading through the posts I am getting the idea the motor isn't the best for performance. What can I upgrade within a $3000.00 budget for more HP? What would be involved in a switch to a 5.0? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

here's a 10 sec 1988 V6.

How much performance do you need?

hey, I found out the bolt pattern on the rear of the 2001+ v6s is the same as the v8s, so any transmission from a C4-C6, etc. WILL work on a modern V6.

Supersix can give you the information you need.
