Unhappy ebrake

the other day i went to pull my ebrake up to put my car in park and i heard a snap and not there is no tenion when i pull the ebrake up. is this the kind of job i should leave to the professionals and if so how much do you think it will cost? thanks

depends on where the break occurred.

when in the drivers seat i can see the break in the cable where it connected to the hadle but i cant see the other half.

well, it's not too tough to replace the cable, I reckon it depends on how handy you are, and whether you have a lift?
