As far as water pump cavitation, the pulleys would reduce/prevent it because cavitation happens at high rpms.
I live in south Texas and I'm a little worried about under powering my water pump in 100 degree weather. With the regular pulleys there has been a couple of times when I was sitting still in neutral and the engine was idling at 1800-1900 rpms just to run the water pump.

I'd pick up a DeMolet Intake, then run to RPM-Mustangs.com and pick up 1.8RRs, and pick up a sway bar for sure.

You should pick up some chassis reinforcements if you're planning on keeping the car for a while . . .

Then you're gonna have to make some real plans - what's your end goal?

by more than a carlength to what speed?

;-)

What state do you live in?

Do the above, and if it's legal in your state, throw on some long tube headers.

Long tubes, yes -well depends on what you call "fair" . .. If you improve the airflow with either a cam or the roller rockers, you can get 5+ hp out of em. Shorty's are no good, unless you have a power adder.

The biggest cheap mod after UD'ers, CAI, etc., is a 3/4" spacer between the upper an lower manifold. you'll get 9hp no matter the app with those, but they're getting scarce . ..

But without doing port work or changing to a good street cam, the LT headers can get you some hp.

Basically, the phenolic spacers keep the temp of the upper intake manifold down, but MORE importantly, the increase the volume of the plenum, to the size of the F-150 4.2L. it also increases the effective runner length, boosting torque.

Flex (a moderator here) used to make them, until he took over a home building/improvement business -no time anymore.

There's another sixer who's making 1/2" spacers, but I don't know him . . ..

You could always make your own. The last time I checked, 3/4" sheets were selling for around $20. but they go through cutters pretty fast, and you need a mask to work with the material.

Nitrous is the cheapest power adder you can get, bottom line.

From what ive read, 75hp wet shot is probably the highest you can get safely with everything else stock.

Zex makes a nice nitrous kit.

2002 Sonic Blue v6 5-speed
Mods: K&N FIPK2 CAI, Motoblue 42% UDP, Steeda Tri-Ax, next up - time for a new clutch I think and a lightweight flywheel if I can find a relatively inexpensive one...

It's the cheapest unless you factor in refilling the bottle .. . .
