It's more fun beating folks with your head than with ci, IMHO.

When I had my 68 in the late 80s -early 90s, people would ask, "why are you messin' with that grocery getter? if you wanna' be fast buy a 350 small block." There weren't that many parts then, and I did it by playing it smart with the parts, and lightening the car considerably. Heck I got 25 mpg outta' that car. I didn't bind the car with too tall gears, didn't put pro-street style tires on it, didn't go too big on exhaust and carbeurator, etc. That car would RUN, even got the big blocks most of the time.

They HATED losing to a lil 302. They hate it even MORE losing to a 6, and the 302 is all off-the shelf stuff now. Everyone expects a 302 to run.

Right now, they can't imagine losing to a six, so I'm gonna' expand THAT particular horizon . . .

I've said it before, and I'll say it again -A LOT of the Hondaheads are pure posers, but someone who get's one in the 12s or even 14s gets a LOT more respect from me than a v8 car into the 10s -12s.

It takes a lot more smarts and ingenuity for the Hondahead . . . Stangers and Chevy Monkeys just need to go to Summit or Jegs buy parts, and pay for someone to put 'em on for 'em. Or just go and get a crate engine all ready prepped and broken in for them. All you need is a fat enough checkbook.

that's WAY too much for flows -should be around $400.You can get a GT takeoff system, and swap the flows for less.

Both have too much diameter -you'll lose hp and torque.

Just call in to order, and specify you want 2 1/4" pipes.

This item is on Ebay right now along with my underdrive pulleys both for a 2001-2003 3.8 litre mustang. The underdrive pulleys are going for $120 right now with 3 days left so go check them out...I have pictures of both of them on this website under the ads section. unless you're using a power adder, it won't do anything . . . it may kill the air velocity without port matching and intake porting to even the flow.

but if you're planning a cam, or a power adder, you'll need it eventually!

Based on a lot of testing, an exhaust by itself will not provide much of a gain. For example, on a Camaro Z28 we did recently, a complete exhaust with headers only gained 1 (yes you read that right) one HP. However, once we installed the CAI it picked up 32 HP. So it always boils down to the combination of parts. Once you have the exhaust done, have it tuned with an SCT X-Calibrater 2 on your nearest Dyno to optimize the tune for those parts. The total cost should not exceed $1000.00 for a good Stainless Steel Magnaflow system and the X-Cal 2.

We have done 100's of Dyno tunes using the X-Cal 2 and it has always proven itself in. Go check out the"image section" on our website at www.fastspecialties.com and click on customer cars. We have a write up on what was done and what it gained. Also read the "staff blogs". Lots of good info on proven power upgrades.

GM's OBD II computers are generally less flexible than Ford's -that said, did you unplug the Z28 computer after the install?

Just curious. You are correct about building blocks, but I have seen people who have installed exhaust, CAI, etc, and didn't record any gains. I always ask them "Did you remember to disconnect the computer?

9/10 times they didn't . . .
