rattling when starting

Hey folks... I just noticed in my 2000 vert that, when I start it when the engine is cold, there is a loud rattling, like someone shaking a can full of rocks for about 2 seconds. if i kill the car and start it again, it doesnt occour. any ideas???

I'm having the same ploblem that aaglaser is having except that in my 2001 mustang I hear the rattling only when I have the car in D drive and when i press on the gas. When i press on the gas and it is below 1500 rpm is that i hear the noise. When i let go of the gas i dont hear anything. thanks in advance.

well maybe i've found the solution to my problem take a look at this aaglaser

ah, that may explain it.

If it's what everyone else is asking about -it's normal.

Take it to the dealership on your next oil change and ask about it, -they probably won't even notice it.

It's hard to diagnose a noise you can't hear . ..

It could be pebbles in the catalytic converters, it could be your belt tensioner, it could be lots of stuff. Take it to the dealer for an oil change and ask 'em about it . ..
