Question Just a Few Gears Questions...

OK I know I've asked a million times but I forgot....so I'm gonna ask again. My only questions are these...for my 1999 auto V6 should I get 3.73s or 4.10s? Why? Is Motive a good brand for gears and rear end stuff? For the Posi Trac should I get FRPP cuz I heard somewhere that those have to basically be reinstalled every like 30,000 miles. Is that true? There are sets on rpmoutlet.com and mustangtuning.com so if you could look at those and tell me what you think then that would be great!! Thank you again!!!

Re: Just a Few Gears Questions...

I have been looking at the gears at rpm to. From what I understand deciding between 4.10's and 3.73's is based on what you want to do with the car. The way I see it is that 4.10's are really only good for track use and 3.73's are sensible for daily driving. Also I am not sure if motive is the best brand or not but rpm usually sells good stuff.

2002 v6 manual, SSM P&P Heads, Comp Cam from SSM, and some other stuff full list in profile.
214 RWHP, 215 RWTQ :tongue

Depends on your mix of city and highway driving, and whether or not you plan a power adder.

If you plan a power adder, leave the gears stock.

The best LS for your car is the Detriot Locker.

Dude, sometimes there are so many posts, you're 161 and don't end up on the new post list.

If you don't get a response right away, check the archives.

Both questions get asked every month or so, so there's already a ton of posts about these mods . . .

yeah i looked at the detroit lockers. i cant figure out where to buy one though. whats wrong with the FRPP lockers? i found those on the internet. someone said once that u have to basically reinstall the locker like every 30,000 miles if u get that one...why would they make it that way? i dont even know if ill have it for that much longer anyways so well see (might move up to GT). i do mostly city driving but my share of highway driving too. i think 3.73s will do fine but if anyone doesnt think so then let me know. thanks!!

yeah, the FR unit is a clutch style unit, and the clutches generally last between 30-50,000 miles.

For the Detriot Lockers, go to the website, and call for the nearest dealer, or see if you can find a wholesaler near you.

The reason they make the FRs that way is NVH, and cost.

3.73s will work fine -if you have an auto, make sure you get the speedometer and computer calibrated.

Buy them from Mustang tuning! They are just as good, or better then the FRPP, they cost less, and shipping is free!
