Billet window buttons

I bought a set of milled aluminum Billet window buttons to replace the black plastic ones that came with my '97, they look really good, but sometimes they pop off. They were designed to fit over the small square pegs like the original plastic buttons, but don't seem to stay on very well. Has anyone else had this same problem, and were you able to find a way to make them stay in place? I thought about some type of adhesive, but they still need to be removable.
