1995 V6 Help! Fire Danger?

Hi, I have a '95 V6 coupe with 150k miles, but she's my baby and runs perfect. Today, I moved my floor mat on the driver's side floorboard and there are burns (about 3" in diameter) in the carpet, close to the center console. There is metal right beneath it that didn't feel overly hot to the touch, but is this something that is going to start a fire? What is burning through the carpet?? Please help. Ann

He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well...But your eyes and your heart are set only on dishonest gain,on shedding innocent blood and on oppression and extortion. I bought it used. It has a new engine and new transmission. When I bought it, it had 95k miles on it.

THey probably had to cut the transmission mount brace, etc. out, and your carpet got scorched . ..

yeah if they are almost perfect circles then that would either be a Oxy torch cutting them off or a mig welding them back on, either way, there is nothing there that should be a potential fire hazard.
