And then put another $6000-10,000 to keep it running, replace the seat backs, repair cracks in the frame/floor, etc . ..

I just bought a 99 v6 mustang with a stage 1 roush kit put on it, which im pretty sure is just exhaust and body kit. But I was just wondering where the best place would be to start for some cheap horsepower gains. Not even necessarily horsepower, but acceleration. One thing I dont really know too much about is gears. You can order performance gears for v6 mustang for about 180. (3.73 and 4.10) What would these do for a mostly stock 99 v6 stick? Or how else should I start upgrading.

if u get gears get tlok while that has to be taken apart. .5 second off the 1/4 mile is great for the price(i think thats about what it is), however u need a chip as well. gears and nitrous probally is the cheapest way to shave that big of a chunk off.

if u can do the install urself, h/i/c or just cam + the previous stuff(u alraedy will need the chip). or go f/i.

oh and dont steal my thread im just playing.

Gears will end up costing you between 6-800 w/ installation.

You need 3 things

1) a goal

2) a budget

& with those you get your 3rd

3) a plan.

What do you want out of the car?

Eventually I want it to have A LOT of hp. Around 500-600 or more, but still street driveable. I would just like to know what the best things to start out with would before before doing something like supercharging. Starting with the cheaper upgrades then going to the more expensive. I was considering the powerpak from supersixmotorsports.com, ~2400 for about 90 hp.

A budget however I haven't considered, I will put a lot of money in it. But I dont have it at the moment, so I will do what I can with the cash I have at the time and save.

For that much power, you're better off building your chassis first. You won't be able to put the power to the ground, so it will be useless power. you need to make the car safe for the power before you put the powerplant in (Plan on spending $2000-3000 or so in chassis and driveline improvements 1st.

500-600 will NOT be streetable, and will require changing your cooling and fuel systems before you can even beging to build the engine. You are going to need at least 2-3000 for the one-off computer controls, fuel rails, 1-off intake, upgraded radiator, fittings, etc.

and then the engine will cost you at LEAST 8,000 . .. (Including power adder)

If you want to see what one looks like, pick up the latest issue of MMFF.
