I specifically told the man head gaskets and thats what he told me they would cost

yeah, you need exhaust gaskets -should be a lot cheaper.

thanks for all your help ks. i appreciate it. one last question. i was looking at how much work its gonna take to put these one and the driver side looks like it wouldnt be to bad. but the passenger side looks like i would have to take out an awful lot of stuff. im not so sure i can do that myself. is it as hard as it looks and how much would i have to pay someone to put them in. thanks in advance

Getting at the last bolt is tough on either side. Once you remove the intake It's not bad, but you'll need some extensions and joints for your socket.

It shouldn't take much more time than changing the spark plugs -so, plan on an hours worth of labor, even if it takes 30-45 minutes.
