1967 - 1968 Mustang Tire and Wheels Picture Thread

Ok the idea of these picture threads are just that PICTURES! Many enthusiasts
first upgrade is in the wheel and tire category. Many have question on what they will look like and what will fit. Instead of searching the entire forum for a combo or what is needed for making them fit this will be the place to post pictures of your wheel and tire combo and any modifications needed to make them fir…example rolling the wheel wells.
Having pictures will better enable members to pick the combo that they like best.

All discussion of the picture threads should be done in the Picture Thread Discussion and not in the picture thread, other wise it wouldn’t be a picture thread. So if any one has suggestions or want to ask a question about fit the discussion is the place to ask them.

So post in the Picture thread should contain Pictures of the wheels and the following info.

Year of Mustang
Wheel Size
Tire Size
What modification, if any, needed to make it fit
And is you car lowered and how much.

I have posted one in the Fox body section to give everyone an idea so lets now see thoes Wheel and Tire Combos!

So , let me get this straight…..your Honda has 1.6 liters, whereas my bottle of Mountain Dew has 2?

"When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. -Jesus

-1988 Ford Mustang GT Convertible, 331 Trick Flow Stroker with a Tremec 3550....oh yea and a 1.6 liter V-TECH motor to work the convertible top.

68 fastback wheels and tires

the guy at the speed shop sold me these wheels and tires saying it were a bolt on deal. these are rear 17-8 4.5 backspacing and front 17-7 with 4'' backspacing. the tires are rear 255-45-17 26'' diameter, front 225-50-17 25.5'' diameter. that's what i got in these pictures but the rear rubbed the outside fender and in the front i had to be careful while driving in a parking with the wheels turned they did touch a fewb times. the front fenders are rolled and the rears are not, all the rest of the car is completely stock. i now changed the tires cause i dont want to damage the car, i have now put rears 245-45-17 25.5'' diameter, and fronts 215-50-17 25'' diameter and they dont rub. i have also added gas-a-just shocks now at the 4 corners. to get the previous tires to fit i would suggest 4.75 backspacing rear and 4.25 in front. i'l post pictures of the actual tires later.

new wheels

I have been looking for some new Styled GT wheels to keep my car stock but nobody had the 14x6's in stock and it looked like it would be a couple more months so I took a leap and went non stock. these are Foose wheels and the fronts are 17x7 with 4" back spacing and the rears are 17x8 with 4.5" offset. Front tires are 235/45 hankooks and the rears are 255/40. I am running completely stock suspension and fenders are not rolled - they fit great and no rubbing.

1967 Mustang 17x8 Streeters

Hi guys, here's a 67 pic of a customers car (wish it was mine!).
Rims are polished Showwheels Streeters in 17x8 @ 4.75" backspace front and rear.
Tires are 225/45 and 245/40 with no rubbing and no mods.
4.75" backspace is nice and conservative tucking the rims under away from the body.
Check out the gallery on our website for more images.
Regards, Chris Morris Showwheels

Low 67 with 17x7 17x8

Hi guys, pic and rim info of a clients car
Rims; Showwheels Streeter wheels, polished
F 17x7 @ 4.25" backspace with 225/45R17
R 17x8 @ 4.75" backspace with 235/45R17
This rim and tyre combo tucks way under allowing the owner to drive without stressing about rubbing issues on lowered suspension.
Regards, Chris @ Showwheels

Year: 1967 GT390
Wheel Size: 14x6" Front; 15" rear (don't know width)
Tire Size: 225/70 Front (left only, the redwall just says "P70-14"); 275/50 rear

These wheels on front are spares we found, one from the truck and the other from shed, as the original aluminum front wheels have flat tires. They seem to be holding up well. We also decided to try on the hubcaps...which look quite nice actually.

Have you ever had issues with tire rub? Front or rear?
Thanks, Joe
