hood struts

I'm having a problem installing the Ford hood struts on my 2015 GT. The upper brackets that are supposed to mount to the hood, are exactly the same width as the existing hood hinge struts and so won't mount "inside" the strut (between the nut and the strut). (See attached pictures.) I don't see...

I'm needing to replace my mmd hood struts with some stronger ones and was wondering if anyone could tell me the length or size that they are to replace them with I called american muscle but they couldn't tell me

I recieved and installed the new hood struts from American Muscle, they went in pretty easy, about 45 minutes time. Love the extra room to lean into the motor and also not worry about the stupid stock prop rod in the way anymore. Can't wait to order my new shift ball and Aluminum Jam-nut/Boot...
