Hello everyone. I am currently rebuilding my FE-390. Now I'm wondering if I should replace the factory torque converter while the engine is out of the car. I am living in Europe with many step roads and the green dot c4 isn't letting me accelerate uphill....unless I use the kick down...

Looking for some input. We are putting a 87 model 302 in our 66 coupe, just had a 70 model c4 rebuilt to go in it. The problem is I don't know what torque converter to use I have a 26 spline input shaft and the bolt space on the flexplate is 11.5. Any help would be appreciated.

65 convertible 289/c4. I recently installed my engine and trans. I can turn the engine freely by hand but after I installed the starter it will only turn so far and then stop. When I remove the stater it turns freely again all the way around. I know I have the correct starter and I am 80%...

So I don't know a whole lot about the internal workings of an automatic. I had a rebuilt AOD in my 91 LX, it has an upgraded valvebody and high stall. About a year ago I was putting it back in the car and the torque converter wasn't all the way on and I tightened the motor to the bell housing...

Have and 88 Mustang I bought a year ago, that has the 351W swapped into it. It's an automatic trans. (Was rebuilt (by who dunno)). Car ran great then all of a sudden (in the course of NORMAL driving [wasn't getting on it at all, never really did) the trans fluid just literally poured out of...

88 mustang AOD. Starts and idles fine. High idle at initial startup for about 8 seconds, then rests at about 800rpm. A little bit rough idle in park but once you put the car in drive or reverse, it dies. Sometimes there is a bit of a surge, sometimes its just like somebody turned the key...

I've tried to seat my torque converter into my C4 transmission but I can't seem to get is into the front pump. I got the TC to 'click' into place twice, over both shafts but it won seat all the way into the pump. I've tried lining up the grooves, wiggling and shaking but to no avail. I have...

It all started with a leaky heater core. I had a mechanic who was referred by a local club do the job as side work because, frankly, I am flat broke. On the way home, the throttle valve cable came loose and it quit shifting into 3rd/OD. Not knowing what was going on, or the damage I was doing at...

Ok, so I've had this pretty worn out mustang, for the past six years. I have put a lot of time into this car, along with expense. I've redone the entire suspension. Multiple engine overhals. Regular PCV change and many other maintenance tricks. Now, the last big investment was a engine overhaul...

I am having problems with a C6 transmission I installed in my 66 coupe backing a 1970 302. Every time I change gears, park to reverse, reverse to drive, park to drive...it has trouble engaging the gear. It is a really new transmission with hardly any miles from a professional builder. I know...

I'm trying to drop in my 289 into a 68' fastback. Running into trouble... The flex plate bolts on without problem, i go for the torque converter to bolt on and it pivots away from one side of the bolt holes at a time. There is a large knob dead center of the Converter that seems as if it...
