Hello,

My power steering pump needs replacement. I am having it replaced on Monday. I've been driving it like that for a week or so now... other than the annoying noise, is there any damage I can do to the car by driving it like that?

thanks!

no there's no more damage that can be done, but it's more a safety risk for yourself and possibly others if you can't safely manouvre the vehicle in a normal fashion.

thanks. the steering works fine, just as though there wasnt a problem, at least so far. there is fluid in the reservoir. is it possible for it to go out entirely, making the wheel next to impossible to turn? that would be ugly if i were on the freeway or in busy traffic...

The wheel would not get impossible to turn, it would just take a lot more effort at very low speed, like when parking. Once you're moving, it would hardly be noticeable at all. I short-belt mine at the track all the time, to bypass the power steering.
