This is kind of ironic. I had been looking at M3's when I stumbled accross my S197. Just recently I pulled up to an E46 M3 at a traffic light. I immeditaly knew that it was an M3 cause I was looking at so many of them. I know they are rated a 333 HP and wondered how my stang would match up against this Bimmer. I did have an intake and exhaust but, 20" wheels too. The light turned green and yes... He went for it... We stayed door to door until we hit traffic. He had a car in his lane and had to let off. I was satisfied to stay with the M3. The best part is I saved $20k and my pride when I bought my newest Mustang. We did go a couple more times but the results were the same, pretty much dead nuts. Not sure if the car had SMG but it was at least a 04(it had LED tail lamps). :hihi:Fun in the streets of Phoenix.:hihi:
The older M3 is badass as far as the twisties and quality goes. I never had one but a good friend had an 04. No mustang will touch the quality and handling stock, straight line, sure. I think the new M3 owns in all departments now.
