05 V6 vs. 89 5.0 & 91 Z28

OK, I've had my fun sending the "Fast & the Furious" rejects to Boy Racer hell. Not much of a challenge there. But within the past two weeks things picked up a notch. First some kid in a 91 Z28. Red light into oblivion; he hung with me until around 75MPH then I walked him by at least 2 car lengths. We exchanged the thumbs up and went our separate ways. Then day before yesterday, a guy pulls up along side in a black 89 5.0 Stang and we're toying. At the same light where I ran the Camaro, we go. A little different story here, he jumped me but I caught him at around 70MPH and went on to beat him by maybe a car length. This guy was pretty friendly and motioned for me to pull over in a strip mall lot. He wanted to see what it was that beat him. When he discovered I had a V6, he went from friendly to downright pissed off, walked off and got in his car and left. I guess he could not handle the embarrassment of being hosed by a V6. So if I had been driving a GT, would that have been OK?

People REALLY underestimate the V6. I've test-driven both the V6 and the V8 and that V6 does have quite a bit of power. The V8 definately outperforms it, but the V6 is not to be underestimated.

it was probably an auto GT... they ran low 15s , or they guy just cant race a 5 speed... no offence to ur v6, cause if it is taking down 5.0's and old school camaros then more props to u :eyepoppin .... good kills
Are you sure it was a 5.0? His car wighs less and has more HP and Torque.

It was definitely a 5.0, it would be hard to mistake one of those and actually with my mods we were pretty even in terms of power.

They weigh MORE, by betweem 100-200 lbs.
Motor trend 1990 , 1991 Mustang LX 5.0 .curb weight 3166 .
Motor trend 2005 , 2005 Mustang V6 .curb weight 3300 .
An 03 v6 manuel stang stock to stock could stay right with if not beat the 5.0 the 05 would have no problem.

Keep dreaming ! not to many stock 99-04 V6 stangs running 14`s ! the 5.0`s that you may have ran most likely were beat to death and ran like ****, there are ton`s !
Somebody in a mint stock (if you could find one) LX 5.0 5speed ,that can drive , would run mid 14`s at mid 90`s , dont kid yourself ! stock for stock 5.0 win`s
Motor trend 1990 ` LX 5.0 , 1/4 =14.8 at 96.0mph, 0 to 60 in 6.2sec ,this is with 3.08.1 rear ! put just 3.73 gears and you have low 14sec!
Lets see some 1/4 timeslips of STOCK 99-04 V6 stang running that ! please I have waiting for timeslips , nobody seems to have ran there car at the track ,to have proof of Stock 99-04 V6 stangs running low 15`s !
I agree with ran260, the 03 V6 vs. 5.0, 5.0 anyday. As for rgensemer, I beleive he was referring to his '05 V6 with mods listed, which I believe!! Nice kills!!:thumbsup
rgensemer , really has a nice time, Comgrats rgensemer , its good to see somebody with REAL track time`s:thumbup and that 98 trap speed is great !

Thanks, I still have a way to go before you have to worry about me. I am looking at a 3:73 gear and a T Lok. That may get me a little closer. Down the road, who knows? I've a friend with the same car and mods as me and he is talking NOS and you can imagine how that sort of mod can get your heart pumping!! The guys at NEX are stating their kit with a 125HP shot will put my V6 in the mid 12's. If I decide to go that route, you may have something to worry about:kooky:
i like the 4.0s too!! its a vast improvement from the rattle trap exhaust leaking 3.8s. i wish i had a 4.0 in my ranger
I have the 125 hp Zex on my 03 gt. I run high to mid twelves on mickey tompsons drag radials on the average summer day with 3:73's and every bolt on they offer without breaking into the engine. So i think the ZEX guys are trying to sell you a kit if you think that shot will put your V6 down over 2 seconds down in the quarter. mid thirteens maybe. It only dropped my car a little over 1 second.

the GT's have 200 lbs more from all the urethane crap, the hatchback hardware, and luxury items.

LX5.0Ls have ALWAYS been faster than the GTs.

WHy do you insist on putting LX5.0L times?

You drop a 0.10 for every 100 lbs, which puts the GT at 15.0 or somewhere around that time.

THEN you're adding mods.
