hi, i'm new to allfordmustangs, i've been reading and using this blog for years now, but now i have a problem of my own so here i am!

i bought 2nd hand S&B cold air intake for my 06 v6 off of ebay for a good price, when i opened the box i realized the PCV tube was missing and the seller couldnt find it.. so i went to pepboys and bought some vacuum tube in the dimensions that were listend on the intake instructions and decieded to improvise it..

i installed my intake (after cleaning it), and attached the tube, but when i turned on my car i had idle problems, at first my rpm would constantly go up and down, so i made the pcv tube shorter, and now when i start my engine it stays at 650 rpm idle, and when i switch into drive my engine shakes for 2 seconds and goes to about 550-600 rpm.

im assuming the slight shaking and change of rpm is not normal? also i don't really notice that much of a difference in sound or any sucking so now im wondering if getting a CAI was even worth it

leaks

whenever i messed with the pcv tube the idle would change so i assumed it was that.. my mistake,

where could i have any leaks related to the intake, im pretty sure its secured on tight.. the only thing i have doubts about is the home made pcv tube, could it be possible a leak in that could cause it?

also is there any damage involved in this? does it hurt my engine if i drive today with this problem

welcome to posting to the forums :D i would start by contacting s&b
Store, and asking some info, like does it require a tune ect. s&b makes the filters for the jlt cai`s too. i would dble check your connections as stl said. the hose from the valve cover to the intake( install hose clamps) the clamp for the filter and the clamp to the throttle body. jlt sends a long pc of hose and you can cut it to fit where you want it, i really dont think that makes any difference. make sure your maf sensor is in the right direction and installed well too. :) while your at it, pull it off the throttle body and if its dirty and black inside, get some tb cleaner and some clean rags and wipe it out till its shiny

ya, could be any of those things. maybe dont do that, it would be hard to work on and drive with no hands. :winks you can also get maf cleaner in a spray can too. be ready though, i think i paid 7.00 for the last can i bought :) i would still get a phone number off the sb link and call them and get all the info you can on the cai. always good to know what you have. :yup:
