A couple of week ago I took my car to the car wash after cleaning my K&N intake filter and changing my oil. While I was driving saw and heard water coming out from behind the glove box. The next night I went to start my car and it would not start.
Last night while walking the dog I notices some illumination coming from inside the car. I looked in and saw the cruise control lights on the steering wheel and the Info/Setup/Reset/TCS/Hazard Buttons light all illuminated.
Since then I have cleaned out the area and drain plug near the cabin filter. I could see that the cabin filter had a water line on it so I definitely know that I was getting water built up in there.
While researching I've seen people say that the smart junction box and fuse panels could have gotten wet from water leaking in. I checked all my fuses in there and they are good and not one of them caused those light to turn off. I am assuming based off of that I have a short with the wiring. Nothing in the owners manual identifies these buttons illumination source.
I have the battery disconnected now and am going to leave it disconnected for a few hours. Had it disconnected for about 10 minutes earlier.
Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. the water in the sjb is a pretty big problem across all models of mustangs from 05-14. youll need to pull the pass side kickpanel off (take the door sill off first, just pops up), once those are out of the way you can remove the sjb from the car, 1 10mm bolt in the center. remove all the connectors (don't worry, they only go one place on the sjb), inspect the connectors on the sjb and each corresponding wire connector. youll likely have wet connectors or some corrosion that needs cleaned out. what connector goes to the info screen/buttons cruise I'm not sure, so check them all. what usually causes random lights to come on is water getting into a connector on the sjb, power and ground wires are run from the sjb to their respective places in the car and the sjb is ground, if water gets in a connector and causes a circuit, youll get that circuit hot or on (one tail light or interior lights) even tho the car is off, everything going to sjb is hot always. good luck

You didn't say you checked the smart junction box. The connections have a tendency to get wet a wreak havoc.
While you have the battery disconnected, nows a good time to inspect it. It's pretty straight forward removing it from the footwell. It should be only a couple of bolts or screws. Carefully disconnect the wire harnesses and inspect for water. If any, you can dry it with a hair dryer and spray them with quick drying electronic cleaner.

So it definitely appears to be some corrosion on the pins of the SJB. Circuit board looks ok. The sort of contact clear I have at home is CRC MAF Sensor cleaner. I have electrical contact cleaner for use inside of switchgear that I can grab tonight. Haven't looked at the female ends on the harnesses but I assume it is the same way.
Anyone see a problem using the MAF Sensor cleaner...I personally don't and think it probably is a safer option.

I would go with the electric contact cleaner if you have to get to it tonight. I keep a can of this on hand.
Did you try cleaning some of it up with sandpaper or emory board?

MAF cleaner won't take off electrical corrosion. It is for getting dust & soot off the MAF wire. Not very aggressive.

Yeah good, the CRC contact cleaner is plastic safe. Make sure the contact cleaner you use is plastic and rubber safe. Most electrical contact cleaners are NOT. In fact, the most commonly available contact cleaner from hardware stores says to keep it away from plastic, vinyl and rubber.

So I picked up the CRC QD Electronic cleaner and sprayed all the pins on the SJB and the wiring harnesses. Still no luck. I haven't googled it yet (just about to), but does anyone know a website where I can a wiring diagram and/or schematic of the wiring from the SJB and fuse boxes to their loads?

I'm having the same issue with the same lights staying on. I already took out the sjb and cleaned all the connectors with electrical cleaner. Should I clean the circuit boards inside the sjb?

Did you fix it? I have the same problem and I can’t figure it out. Any advice would help it appears to be the same issue based on your description.
