Has anyone attempted this? I actually have a 10 GT but it appears I have the same rear valance has the 11-12 V6 cars with dual exhaust. Figured I'd have better luck finding info here. I've seen some info on the GT500 swap and it looks like its pretty straight forward, albeit time consuming. Looking for any pointers and also wondering about the two extra push pins on the 11-12 GT valance. Just was at the Ford dealership and the guy there was having a hard time finding part numbers. I'm talking about the two pieces to the left and right of the center piece that fold back in. Thanks!

Just remove the rear bumper, then take off the valance.

First remove the screws where the rear mudflap would be if it had one. Next, unbolt the bolts attaching the valance to the under body (those 2 flappy things in the middle of the valance you pictured). Then unhook the side marker bulbs, and rip the bumper cover off the car. Literally rip it off the car! It's a bit scary at first, but it's like a lego and pops back in.

It's actually quite simple.

I did this myself with absolutely no mechanical know how and it took around an hour and a half. I also got my father to help me hold the bumper off the ground while I was connecting push pins. The most difficult part for me was removing the white W clips from the center underneath of the car and also removing the valance from the bumper itself. Those really required some force and I actually bent the metal of the car when removing those W clips. Other than that, it was a fairly straightforward install. Just make sure you keep all your clips etc in ziplocs or something organized so you dont lose any and know where they are at all times.

I forgot about the two extra flaps until after I had installed the whole thing, so I had to do some contorting underneath the car to secure the flap in place after the fact, but it wasn't that bad really. I took some bolts and nuts I had lying around the shop and tightened them up. Dunno if I was SUPPOSED to use pushpins, but what I did works great.

pretty simple, i havent done it but others have that i know but that many instead use a removal tool to save the clips...other wise you will have to go find some at a local autoparts store

Thank you for the responses! Completed the install yesterday afternoon. Very straight forward with some help from my wife. Another set of hands really helps when your removing the bumper. Also, this set of instructions really helped:

http://www.roushperformance.com/par...ce-for-Mustang-GT-2010-2012-420009-manual.pdf

Also the other push pins I was talking about are the same as the four (two on each side) that are on the left and right side mounting brackets (see fig 6 on the instructions). The part # if you want to replace them is W709984S300 (they are sold as a set of four).

The two white w-clip fasteners broke on me when I removed them (see fig 7). I heard this would happen so I bought a set. Part # for those W790229S900.

For another just in case scenario, I got a two of the other push pins (see step #18 C). I did need to use one of them. Part # W705436S300

Is it absolutely necessary to remove the bumper to install a new valance?

Perhaps not, but I think you would break a lot of things trying to do it on the car as a lot of the clips would be extremely difficult to access or put pressure on to snap in place or remove

You will need 2 more push pins for the 2 thin pieces (at least I did on the 2010 V6), fold them up after you get it on and you will see the holes in the body for them.
You can get a pin removal tool from your local auto parts store

it will help with all the pins.

Where did you order those parts? Looking at installing a new rear valence soon but would like to order the parts now if possible!

Thanks,

Like tturbocar said, those are ford part numbers. I got the from my local Ford dealership (Rockwall Ford). Also, I installed a 12 GT valance, but the Roush instructions work as all these are basically the same. After reading the instructions SC_Kona_Blue posted, I'd say those are better IMO.

And I'm with Siber Express. A pin removal tool really helps!
