there is this guy in town with this camaro...i believe its a 2000-2002 because its an SS. he only has an exhaust on it and it sounds mean!! im so tempted to challenge him and race him. i think i should beat him....if not then stay right next to him. what do yall think? all he has is an exhaust thats it.

if its an SS it will do a quarter mile basically the same as our stangs 13.7..at least thats the average time ive seen posted on the net..0-60 is about 5.3..you do have a couple upgrades yourself..so if he just has an exhaust i think you'll be able to take him..what kinda tires you running?

hate to burst your bubble. but those things will run low 13's stock. ive seen it. my buddy ran 13.4 on his first day at the track. with your mustang having 2.73 gears, hes gonna get you :/ upgrade to some 4.10s and its a different story :yup:

As I recall, those Camaros are geared pretty short. I would agree with the gear swap.

I was also under the impression those LS1 cars were capable of low 13's without any mods, and high 12's with relatively few. Not to mention that 305 SBC will most likely get the drop on you off the line between gearing and earlier torque, assuming he can drive it.

You're not beating an LS1 in one of these cars. The six-speeds dip into the 12's stock and the cars make most of their power at the top.

You can tell the years of Camaros by the following IF THEY ARE STOCK:

The 98's have different coil packs
The 99's have different coil packs from the 98's with black side mirrors
The 2000 have painted side mirrors with a different steering wheel from the 99.
The 2001 have the LS6 intake and they are cosmetically the same as the 2000 up.
The 2002 may have an anniversary badge.

I can't stress enough not to pick a fight with a 4th Gen F-Body.
