That still doesnt help me... I guess im trying to reverse engineer the situation... I really dont understand the whole tire spec setup, I'm kinda figuring that if you have a certain size rim that there would be a range of tires that would fit on it, but how do you figure out the range is my question? Any help would be appreciated.

Ok. Ok. Go to www.thetirerack.com . Now, Select Ford, 2005 (or 2006), and then click on wheels. Choose your color and 17 inch wheels on the left. Now, just pick a wheel that is 17X9. On the left of the page, they show you the recommended size to fit your V6. Simple as that. :wavey

You're looking at a range between 255/45 /17 and 285/45/17 . The first number is the tire width. For example a 285 is wider than a 255 but only IF the middle number (aspect ratio) is the same. If not they can vary in size to some degree.

Ok, so just to see if I have this correct... */ is equal to the 9inchs in 17x9(but can vary a little). /*/ would be the sidewall size so lower gives you a lower profile tire? and the /* is obviously the diameter of the tire 17 inches in the 17x9 example?

stock pirellis for 17's are 235/55-17, if you go to a 17x9 rim you should go to 255/50-17 to keep the same diameter. stock pzeros will not fit a 9inch wide rim.
Sylvia...........im not going to advise anyone to run the stock tires on a 17 X 9 rim........however.......i bought my rims from discount tire....they told me the stock tires would work ok. i have been running the stock tires on 17 X 9 rims since June with no problems. take this info for whats its worth. some say they will work, some say they wont. i dont know....they work for me.
