I have a 1965 mustang with a 302 in it, my engine is currently experiencing a miss and an oil leak, Im not sure if they are related. I installed new headers on the car a few weeks ago and are now ruined thanks to this leak, I think its coming from the valve cover but Im not sure. After installing the headers I cleaned the wires and now they look like this! Please see attached pictures. Thank you.

Hi there,

There is oil all over your shock tower also, could it be your breather spluttering oil ?

Could the valve cover gasket cause all that mess on the shock tower or is the breather a more accurate possibility? and could any of these cause an engine miss?

You should have a PCV valve on the other side so air enters the breather plus it would show up easy. Betting on valve cover gasket. Put the good FelPro reinforced neoprene gaskets on and eliminate that problem. Your miss, I seriously doubt is related. Possibly a leak elsewhere as the fan blows that crap everywhere.
