I have purchased a T5 transmission out of a 86 mustang at the junkyard a couple of weekends ago to replace the C4 AOD transmission that is currently in my 1965 mustang. I am currently in the process of collecting all the parts necessary to complete the swap and was wondering if I can reuse the blockplate that i have currently with the C4 tranny or if i need to purchase a new one specifically for the T5?

Thanks

do you have a C4 OR an AOD in your 65? they are 2 completely different transmissions and may make a difference when it comes to a swap. The C4 would have been a factory option at the time and is a 3 speed. the AOD is an 1980's(primarily) overdrive trans-4 speeds total, though you could only physically put it in 3 positions on the shifter like a C4-1st, drive, and overdrive and would have been from a newer car if it's in your car now-it'll say metric in large letters on the trans pan.

I have a 3 spd behind a 289 and want to swap it for a T5. Would you share your swap parts list? Is the block plate the same as a bell housing? OH boy, it's been awhile since I've been under the hood!
Thanks
