1965 Mustang VIN Stamping Problem

I have owned shelbys and mustangs for 40 years, this is a new problem for me! I purchased a nice 1965 mustang a few months ago. The only thing that really bothers me is the lack of a vin. stamp on the LF apron! The apron and core support were replaced about 20 years ago. The stamp is on the LR apron but not visable with out taking the fender off. The door tag is still on. Any help out there on where to get the proper stamps and how to do it right! Thanks, John

I have the same problem with my 68 after I replaced the pass side inner fender. It's not as big a problem with a 68 though as it has a dash tag too but it's something I'm going to fix next time the pass side fender is off as I didn't have stamps when I replaced the panel.

I bought 3/16" numeral and letter stamps plus a star from MSC ( MSC Industrial Supply Co. Home Page ) even though I hold a personal account with them they do sell to average people, unlike Grainger. The star isn't an exact copy of the one Ford used but unless two cars were side by side I doubt most people would realize it.

You'd have to support the inner fender lip from underneath while stamping it so you don't bow it down.
