I had smoke pouring out of my dash several months ago and decided to shut down and replace. The harness that was under the dash was likely the original with a number of poor splices. So I finally got it installed along with a new turn signal harness and have spent several weeks trying to make the connections. It would appear that my final problem, I hope, is that the car trys to start when the switch is turned to accessory, on, or start. It has started but the starter seems to be still engaged. I have changed all the wires that seem to make sense but at this point I am lost. Any ideas. I have all the wiring diagrams available and seem to have installed everything per the diagrams but there is still this problem.

Hello. That sounds an awful lot like the two small wires on the front of the starter solenoid are reversed. The brown one should be on the post towards the firewall marked 'I' and the red/blue wire should be on the post marked 'S' that's toward the battery.

Already tried that I reversed them and then it would not turn over at all.
