So upon driving my Mustang home, a small 'snap' sound came from my pedals, and at the same time, the pedals loosened up and began to sway left and right. I can't figure out what might have broken to cause the detachment of the pedals. Any suggestions or tips out there?

Sure- Your nylon bushings wore out, and you've been operation on the zinc grommets that support them. Now they have failed. I have attached a pic of failed grommets. Your clutch pedal shaft is no doubt trashed, so you'll need a shaft kit, and I would repair the bracket using Drake's roller bearing kit. You won't believe how much easier and smoother the clutch is after this repair.
