I have a 1966 Mustang Coupe 200ci that I am swapping to a 289. (I know, I bought the wrong car). It's c4 cruise-o-matic transmission replaced the old manual transmission . It still has the stock rear end with a Tom Woods drive shaft. I bought this car to learn more about mechanics b/c I know close to nothing. Will the c4 transmission match up to the 289? :?: What will have to be altered? :?: I wanted to replace the rear end down the road, but will the stock rear end hold up for now? What gears does the rear end have to be changed to, to be compatible with the 289, if at all possible? I replaced the front shocks and coils. Here are my goals, what order do they go in? Front and rear disc conversion. Engine swap. Rear suspension. Rear end. 4 to 5 lug rims/ new tires. -Clueless but trying.
