Hello everyone, new to the site. I was wondering if anyone knows if the Ivy Gold color in a 66 mustang is Light ivy gold or medium ivy gold like for the doors, and speaker grills and pillar trim and windshield trim. I know the dash seems darker than the seats and carpet. I need to make sure I order the right 2k paint and the codes are different by 1 number. Thank you for the help :)

I redid my ivy gold and white interior a few years ago. It is light ivy gold you want for the doors and pillars and medium for the speaker grill. To be honest, I used the medium IG from Accu-color but found the light IG to be the wrong shade to match my upholstery. Thus, I had a paint shop color match a swatch of the upholstery to get the door and pillar colors correct.

Sorry - that's also medium IG on the windshield trim piece, same as the speaker grill
Thank you both for the reply, that helps me out. Your interiors look great. I was wondering what the dashpad color that I ordered was I thought it would be medium. So winshield trim and speaker grill will be medium and the pillars, doors would be light ivy gold. I found 2 codes for ivy gold from a PPG Ditzler card but the light ivy gold was from a 65 galaxy and the medium ivy gold from a 65 mustang. So I was not sure if it would match the seat color very well. If you don't mind me asking snaranjo what brand of seats did you use on yours. I was looking at the TMI brand I hear good things and don't want to deal with the aftermarket nightmares too much. Other question I had was what brand of door panels best match the white on the seats. Does it cost more to have a color matched than say just picking one off of the color chip catalog. Did you have the white paint mixed as well or did you use Accu-Color for that? I have a 66 coupe, it is a complete restoration it had a red interior but I will be keeping the car when done, so I am changing to the pony interior. Thank you again for the help I really appreciate it.

I got the Ford Tooling dashpad and it is a medium IG (just called green in the Virginia Classic Mustang catalog) just like the original. I went with TMI for the seat covers and the door panels so the white matches throughout. I did use the Accu-Color white for the dash face and I think it was pretty close to the original. In any case it matches the TMI white very well. As I recall the paint match (PPG) for a quart was around $60-70 (also had a spray can made) and my body shop guy sprayed the doors and pillars for me. Its pricier than the Accu-Color but it really looks nice for the seats and doors to match perfectly. I've seen less than perfect matches and it really shows. BTW, the headliner is an even lighter green than the light IG - sort of a mint green (again, just like the original). Got that from VCM as well. Good luck with your restoration. Steve

66 mustang ivy gold interior

thank you steve that is what I needed to know. :)
Should I order the Moss Green carpet or the ivy gold carpet? not sure it seems the moss green is darker what looks better with the TMI brand of products with ivy gold color?
I went with the Moss Green in my TMI ivy gold and white interior. I think it provides a nice contrast to the ivy gold and is what was stock in that interior in 66
66 mustang firewall color

Hello everyone. I'm restoring a 66 mustang coupe, and I am converting the interior to a pony interior ivy gold/white. My question is I have stripped the dash and have replaced and epoxied the new floor pans. I have removed everything off of the firewall on the inside and cleaned it up. I noticed that the original red/maroon paint is on the firewall. Should I just paint it black like the engine bay or should I spray some medium ivy gold on the firewall. My concern was that the carpet only goes up the firewall so far and then you will see the insulation so should I black it out or paint it medium ivy gold. Not sure what would be correct. Thank you

Honestly, you are not going to see anything beyond the carpet unless you lay on your back under the dashboard. As you say, the firewall insulation pad picks up where the carpet leaves off so the bare metal is way up high behind the dash where no one will see it. If you want, go ahead and spray it with ivy gold, but really any color would work. My painter went ahead and sprayed body color (close to ivy green in my case) on my floor pans and firewall when it was in the shop.

Isn't the carpet supposed to be gold?
It is. 'Ivy gold' is a Ford code word for dark green. I have now, and always did have, a very similar dark green carpet as well as dark green paint in my Parchment and Ivy Gold car.

The interior of this car is 100% original and is ivy gold. the carpet is lite green on every original pony interior car i have had and seen.

Carpet was dark green on the standard Ivy Gold interiors to match the dark green paint on the metal trim. The original photo from Veronica shows dark green as well with a light colored floor mat. I never owned a pony interior so can't say much about those.
