Hey there, I have a '66 289 V8 mustang, and the lower control arms need changing. The rubber bushings have just disintegrated over time and usage, and I was wondering if I should just replace the bushings or buy a new lower control arms with the bushings installed?
Any recommendations?
Thanks.

I have new arms. I'm just deciding since the bushings are bad, been there since day 1 of the car, I'm just going to put new arms with the bushings in them, and also with the UCA.

unless your control arm is completely rusted out, it's a solid piece of metal and is fine to reuse. I'm not putting it together how you can blame rolling on a folded control arm during a corner. I would think the taking a corner at a speed that caused a control arm to fold caused a roll, or a roll caused a control arm to fold.

A benefit to replacing the control arm is you also replace the lower ball joint. So there is an advantage to it.

Getting the old bushing out is another story though. if you decide to stick with the old, ask and I'll tell you how to get the bushing out.

It's a lot easier/faster to just change out the arms, as mentioned the bushings are a pain to get out, I think most burn them out, then check the cost of new balljoints and you have to drill out the rivets from the old ones and clean them up.
I bought a pair of solid MOOG LCA from Virginia Mustangs for $50ea. which was cheaper than the lower quality repops.

Another vote for just changing out the arms. If the bushing is bad, the ball joint is not far behind it. $80-100 and it is done right and good for a long time.

Dont forget to have the alignment checked

Is there a difference in quality between reproduction LCA's and the Moog LCA?
CJ PONY PARTS has some reproductions less than $40 each with free shipping.
YES there is a quality difference, you want to get the MOOG ones hands down, don't waste time buying cheap taiwan ones. Moog is very good and high quality USA made, also consider changing the rubber bushing out for polyurethane.
