I am trying to fix my speedmeter in 1966 Mustang C4 trans it jumps around pulled the cable off the trans everthing look fine. the teeth look good I put a drill motor on the cable stated it the speedmeter seem to work. Do I have a problem in the trans.
I actuall know what is wrong. My speedo bounces a bit, but only every once and a while. If you look at the back of the gauge cluster, there are 2 screws that hold the speedometer in place. There is supposed to be a rubber ring/gasket around each screw which helps with shock.
Also, while you have everything out, get some white lithium grease and lubricate the speedometer cable.
How did it pull it out of the trans? It is supposed to be bolted into the casing.
