1966 warm under dash wires

1966 warm under dash wires, my wires are warm mainley near the tung-sol relay switch. Is this normal? I am testing my instruments & so forth. I do not have my tail lights connected. Would this cause my wires to be warm? Or do I have a short in 40 year old wires?:headscratch:
