I have a 289 that the previous owner said was original to the 67 coupe. He said it had been rebuilt by yet another previous owner. How do I tell if it was bored out during the rebuild?

Use a bore gauge and measure the inside bore. You may be able to borrow one from your local machine shop or you canb buy a cheap one at Harbor Freight. Stock bore is 4.00 inches. Typical rebuild overbore is "30 over" which would yield a bore inside diameter of 4.03". If it's 4.06" could have been two rebuilds or a larger one rebuild.

if it was bored it should have the oversize number stamped on top of the pistons.
